Music Composer: Walter Robins
Duration 33 minutes
Dance theater compositions first performed by the Sydney Youth Ballet in 1997 under the title ‘Ann Frank Ballet’ the Executive Director of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies praised the composition as being inspiring theater music “With sensitivity, understanding and fine musical creativity, Walter Robins’ score for the Ann Frank Ballet recreates the emotional and physical maturing of this unusual child living in hiding. She died so young, but the music inspires us to hope that her martyrdom was not in vain”. Margaret Gutman OAM. Sydney 14th March, 1997
SUGGESTED SCENARIO
A Jewish family who are fugitives from oppression during WW II hide in an attic in their home and evade capture through the support of a few friends who provide them with their day to day needs.
Over time they are joined by others.
Their day to day interactions are portrayed as they do their best to live in close proximity to each other.
One day a friend finds the attic deserted and the fate of the Jewish family is unknown.
THE STAGING
Suggest it should be ‘minimalist’ with props and lighting evoking the imagination to ‘see’ what is the scene.
